You can go to your local VFW or County Veterans Service Office and they would probably let you scan a clean marker in a better setting than on sight like that.

I was wondering about that. Part of what makes me curious is that there are a few of these old metal GAR stars for sale in a local antique shop downtown. I didn't realize markers like those could be sold? I mentioned it in passing to a worker at the cemetery where I've seen many including the example above. He said that they weren't very important. I was disappointed.

They are property of the VA particular the local service veterans office. They are important as the VFW Legion etc use them to hold American flags during ceremonies. They can be purchased from the VA county service office, the county is only allotted the correct amount and war period for the amount of deceased veterans in that county.

Thank you for the information. I'll be getting in touch with the VA. The VA regional hospital is literally just blocks away. I appreciate your information. I will also see if I can do a better scan of a clean marker too.

Oops! I completely forgot! I'll get one up shortly.

Not sure this will be printable, the grass is going to cause problems. I can fix it if you don't mind?

Please do! I still haven't quite figured out how to edit a model and add a base to make it printable. I'm learning in fits and starts but if anyone can improve on my models, I welcome it.
