Summary

This is a Remix of an item that someone I believe got from a another artist, but I can't find his/her information. I do not take credit for this model, just sharing it in a printable format. Upright printing is especially tough on a printer where the bed moves in Y, as you get a lot of wobble once you're getting toward the top.

I had a lot of bad luck trying to print the original version of this, so I re-oriented everything and separated the parts. This way you can fill your own build plate with multiple parts. These parts have also been oriented for best printing. Supports will still be needed for some pieces though. It seems this original model was made in Blender or something very fluid, because the models have some odd artifacts when viewing them. Some of this shows in the final print, as you can see from my pictures, but nothing terrible. Just be aware if you're a perfectionist :-).

Printer Brand:

LulzBot

Printer:

TAZ 5

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.1mm

Infill:

20%

Notes:

I ended up doing some higher infills than I really needed, because I got tired of the prints failing for dumb reasons, and wanted to be sure I didn't have any more problems after waiting 5 hours for a part to print (upping the infill 10% added like 10 minutes to the print time). I had to do 6 top layers (at 0.1mm) to get a clean top for the white sides. Also, silver pieces DO NOT need support, but Red_Middle and white sides were printed with supports. The Red_Middle appears to touch the bed in all places at first glance, but doesn't really. So supports are needed.

Did it come out crooked at the top for anyone else or did mine just warp somehow? If I lineup the sides, the seam at he top isn't straight. Seems like even if the bottom had started warping that the upper layers would have printed straight.

mine is fine and ive been doing this for two weeks. I keep the room warm to help with warping.

I figured out the problem a week later. My X-axis was out of alignment so all my prints were coming out skewed. It was hard to notice on most of them, but I've fixed it now.

Great job on putting together this page.

I love this model! I would like to shoot a youtube video printing it. Do you mind if I show the design printing? I will also recognize you for your awesome design skills!

I did not design the model, I just sliced it. I've since found out where it originally came from. Check out mysupercharger.net for more info about the original artist. Thanks for the feedback though!

This is awesome! The artifacts mentioned are all too apparent on the prints. I'm about halfway through printing, and yep they do show up on my prints.
