Should that be A4982, not A4928?

Are there plans to release the actual source for this thing? PDF docs of the schematic and board layout aren't the best format for this type of thing. I know peter_ is not searching for Pololu compatible PCB.

But in the case, If you are searching Pololu compatible PCB, there are Eagle filesfor StepStick;


I dont want to solder such small parts, but can learn much from seeing boards.
If you modify design, you should care Big GND Pattern works like Heat sink.
If not, you will burn A4983/4988 chips!!

These look pin compatible to the Pololu drivers except for the VR/MS3 pin. Were they less expensive to mass manufacture, but left footprint compatible (?) incase someone needed a spare quickly?

Versus the Pololu A4988 pinouts, the VR (Voltage Reference) signal replaces the Microstep 3 signal.  This may make manually setting the current limit easier, since you can get the reference voltage off the connector rather than the wiper pot or the interior through hole.   It also enables easier off-board current limiting control. 

Programming-wise, the 1/8 stepping option is eliminated with MS1=high+MS2=high meaning 1/16th step instead

How do they compare to the pololu in terms of power output? Thermal dissipation? Price? etc

This chip is nearly, but not quite identical to the one on the Pololu. Exact same specifications except that it lacks a 1/8 microstep. The pinout of this chip is 'friendlier', i.e., less prone to soldering errors.

Looks like they used the same chip as the pololu, possibly got them to design it for them.
