sthone, Great great great super great thing. Ive just printed one. Im a huge lure fisherman here in Hong Kong and I want to pass it around to all my friends. loose line is a huge problem here and I want to do my part. this might just tackle the issue in a way. hahahahah I'm willing to print a heap of these. couple hundred.
Can you please do some mods to the small one please.
1: make the clip stronger, the one on the gap is way to thin.
2: the clip ball/knob needs to stick out a touch to make it clip much better.
Its awesome otherwise
I tried to fix it myself but tinkercad couldn't line up properly lol

I made your recommended changes to the smaller one but I have not printed or tested it so if it doesn't work better let me know and I'll try something different.

I really like these. The large one works very well, just a bit of scraping against the set screws. Makes me wonder about trying nylon set screws after tapping the hole with a steel one. M3 screws work well. I've made three so far.

I've printed the small one with both PLA and PETG. The one tab next the slot always breaks, but the other one (which can't bend so far because of the barrel) doesn't seem to. Maybe if their positions were rotated 90 degrees, so neither was in front of the slot, they wouldn't have this problem?

Thanks for the great work!

Good idea... I'll see if I can fix this.

Oh this is great. I can't stand finding a nest of line in the boat & wondering if any of it ended up in the water. So simple & perfect, serves a great purpose! I'm printing this out for sure.

After my printer Upgrades, this is going to be one of my first prints. I have a lot of fishermen and women in my family.

Very cool! I, too, hate the mess of waste line around my fishing hole. I usually cut what I can and stuff it in the bottom of my tackle box until I get home; tangled mess that way. I'm going fishing today and printing one of these before I head out. Thanks for sharing.

Great job on this. Better, more durable design than the similar, but flimsier one you find at L.L. Bean or Orvis for $15+.

Printing feedback note: I printed the larger, set-screw version in ABS (because I expect it might be left in a hot car now and then, and PLA would probably get soft and warp), but the slot in the cap/inner-part isn't quite big enough for the outer-part to fit in. Could be due to ABS's tendency to shrink a bit when cooling.

Thanks, yeah it might be a ABS problem. I don't remember having any issues with that. (you might be able to sand it down a bit)

I was afraid of the heat but my PLA one hasn't melted yet and its been clipped right to the front deck of my boat.
