This is a generator for 2D subdivided surfaces

An old script made with Processing (http://www.processing.org) a few years ago, now adapted to Openscad.

This thing was the precursor of Futuristic Citybuider (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1680965) and follows a similar algorithm but now in 2D

You can generate rectangles, circles or polygons with different sizes and subdivision patterns in customizer.

I'm using in combination with Polygon bases and frames (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1693462) to make some boxes and pencil-cases.

Also you can use it for decoration, bracelets (blendig with warm water) or what you imagine.

Includes some STL files and some ZIPs with even more STLs

I made a SCAD file for making a cube to hold six of these panels at a time. The cube has frames that allow you to remove and switch out the panels after printing and the SCAD file is parameterized so you can make the panels and cube any size.

But how could an arch be made? Roman arch with maybe half or two quarter circles but gothic arch?

mmm...i have to googleing 'gothic arc' hehe

The upper part seems to be 2 less-than-quarter circles mirrored.
Inside you can fill with a subdivided circle or maybe intersect the arc with a rectangle subdivided.

i don't really have a definitive solution.

Oboy googling "Square and Circle in a Gothic Cupola" sure was a deep rabbit hole


ok, this search in google images brings lots of techniques for drawing a Gothic arc. And many subdivision methods. Maybe i'll do a second version of this subdivision algorithm including new forms.

Also, i forgot what are we looking for... a simply method to draw a gothic art?? two 60 degrees arcs mirrored must work.

The method i've used to generate subdivided polygons it's simple: Generate a subdivided square and intersect with a polygon. Same technique can be used to get any shape 'subdivided'.

intersect or substract a rectangle with the circle generated to get a semicircle
