This is a version my Lm8uu Y Carriage adapted for the Mendelmax.

Updated y-carriage7_max with working 3 lm8uu design.

I personally use the y-carriage_al version, it has a lowered belt socket on the motor side that keeps the belt level when used with this https://sdp-si.com/eStore/PartDetail.asp?Opener=Group&PartID=60190&GroupID=346) aluminum pulley form SDP. Use y-carriage_flat if you are using a bigger pulley on Y.

I no longer believe in bed springs, nor leveling the print bed after the first time. In fact, to maxbot's credit, somehow there seems to be no bed leveling needed at all on my MendelMax. The print bed bolts together perfectly level and stays level so far (touch wood).

I printed the spacers out of ABS just in case the platform gets too warm during long printing sessions.

Print either the y-carriage_al or y-carriage_flat depending on your need, and then y-carriage_spacer.

Any chance you can make a mod to use the 8mm linear bushings from SDP-SI? [A 7Z44MPSD08MAF] Awesome looking design!

are these Y rods 8mm or 10mm? how long are they?

What about this end mounts that are  on the first picture, where the rods are inserted in? Where can I found them?

You mean the Y rod mount? that is the standard issue Mendelmax 1.0 8mm y rod mount.  Just check MM1.0's thingiverse page.

Should be usable with a Prusa too. What you think? Just the spacing of the y rods needs to be adjusted, but this should be no problem.

Why not just use the variant i did for Prusa Mendel? http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:12979http://www.thingiverse.com/thi...

Lm8uu Y Carriage for Prusa Mendel V2
by tommyc

Because i like this one more? Dont really know, perhaps i like the one piece idea better. But shouldnt be really a problem to use this one a prusa....

Come to think of it, i did one for Prusa i2 before i deflect to mendelmax. i should have it somewhere. :)

This printed beautifully. Thanks!

Great design TommyC! Can you please upload the scad file for the y-carriage_spacers? I wanted to tweak them a tad. Also, the 3-legged version of the carriage doesn't seem to work in this version. It renders merged with the belt clamps and no mounts for the spacers. :) :)

Just updated the scad file with working 3 lm8uu design. Spacers are in the scad file too. I am now using the 3 lm8uu carriage because it has way less friction.

Thanks TommyC! And thanks for the spacers, interesting design on that third spacer. You also have a belt adjuster in the pictures, are you using your own design or is that an existing thingiverse design? I made a different design work, but I see you have screws holding yours in place through the slots in the belt arms, probably more stable.

I adapted your old design for the MendelMax I'm building, but I'll print this as soon as I get it printing!

The third spacer design is aim at preventing the spacer form flexing. The single lm8uu side may need the additional support.

All my Y carriages use the same belt tensioner design, you can see it more clearly in this pic http://www.thingiverse.com/image:83626http://www.thingiverse.com/ima.... I put the horizontal screw and copper spacer in there to prevent the tensioning screw rubbing directly on the belt. This http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:10274http://www.thingiverse.com/thi... i
s where the idea came from.
