your process works great. i am making a three-slot stand for my three laptops that are always taking up table space. and, i loved learning about the inkscape extension. i have been an inkscape user for over a decade and i keep finding new things the program can do. thanks!

i was trying to adjust the height of the extrusion, and openscad didn't respond to me changing the h parameter to the linear_extrude command. changing h to height enabled me to control it.

in working to actually render the object in OpenSCAD, I first struggled with warnings about mixing 3d and 2d objects. i was puzzled for a while. eventually i worked out that the call to the path object in the .scad file that the inkscape plugin generates, was a 2d object, and it interfered with the linear_extrude. removing that call in laptop-stand-profile.scad made the stand actually render, not just preview. phew!

sorry about the deleted comment.

Glad you were able to make use of this Thing, and thanks/congrats on your detective work! I haven't updated this design in quite some time, and it seems like OpenSCAD has evolved a bit sense then.

If you are open to it, it would be great if you could make a Derivative of this Thing here on Thingiverse for other folks to find! Drop me a comment and I'll update the description here to link to it!
