Can someone explain to me how can one customize it please?? I am very new to 3D printing...

it says in scad file
Needs write.scad as found here:
https://github.com/rohieb/Write.scad
Have you tried downloading it?
.
Just edit the scad file to point to the downloaded file.
e.g.

use <c:/Download/Write.scad> //Change to directory where write.scad resides;

Please add cyrillic fonts.

Sadly åäö do not seem to work, is there any way to fix that?

How do we get this to work? I get the same errors as everyone else! Been coming back for a couple weeks and still the error.

I've tried several times to make this using the Customizer, but get this error. Any ideas?

<RuntimeError: Failed to get https://www.thingiverse.com/download:332872 403: Forbidden>

Unless I Keep the default settings, every time I click on "create my ting" I get the following error in the queue

<RuntimeError: Failed to get https://www.thingiverse.com/download:332872 403: Forbidden>

Any idea?

I've the same problem

Exactly what I needed for an upcoming trip. The whole family is getting high-viz orange tags. B-) Thanks!

Can I use accent on words? Mine don`t show up in the preview. Thanks

While these are nice labels, the one thing I wouldn't use these for is for actual luggage tags. As a general rule, you don't want to advertise your home address to bystanders at an airport. If you want to use this for luggage, I would suggest adding a removable cover, so that it is obvious when someone is reading the tag.

Hi
This is why the hidden version is available. These tags really can only be read when being held against the light. Except if you print them using very dark filament. Then nobody can ever read them.

How do you print the 'hidden' version? Thanks!

I made the 'hidden' version using a double extruder printer loaded with white filament in extruder 0 and dark blue in extruder 1. Using 0.2mm layers, I edited the GCode to add T1 after layer 4 and T0 after layer 11 to print a dark colour for layers 5 to 10. It worked brilliantly.

Thanks for the great design!

Just printed a "hidden" version and I would suggest rotating it so the "front" is down on your glass, even though it doesn't seem like it should matter. The light transmission is much better that way.

I'm consistently getting the "JSON must contain at least two octets" error when customizing. Anyone have a fix for this?

Why does my print come out backwards. Or how do I flip it over. Looking at it from the back through the thin bottom layer through a bright light it is correct. I am confused....................

Can someone tell me how to customize the name? I am newbie here. Thanks

Click on the "Customize" option and then use the "Customizer" app. You should see a screen load that has various lines of text that you can modify.

I just saw the upside down comment. Thanks for the tip. Wishing I wouldve seen it 4 prints ago.... I had to keep slowing down the printer/ adjusting print size, etc.

Could you tell me how you printed it upside down?

Flip it along the X axis in your slicer :)

Thanks that worked perfect. Question is, now suppose I don't want that. Do I have to reload the slicer again?

You can save the revised stl or save the gcode that it generated

Great idea. I'm making one for each family member. Thanks! :)

Very nice! I used it for my toolbox.

Better fonts? My address has a "W" in it and the diagonal lines on the Futuristic font don't print well, i fear the same with Basic. The rest are just terrible. Also, how come spaces are so large? Other than that this is really cool!

When you print it, how much does the luggage tag weight?

i print it, but letter are mirrored. Every letter if i print, is mirored but i have not see any option like this nor slic3r neither ponterface

cool idea. I made one and my wife said 'we already have luggage tags'....so I put 'swimsuit model' on hers and now she seems to like it ok.

thanks is very easy to do tag

I just got back from a vacation, and the baggage handlers in Nassau broke my tag in half on the way out, and my wife's tag in half on the return flight. They totally trashed my suitcase too! I thought the luggage tags seemed strong and solid, but I guess the PLA is too brittle. Maybe the temperature changes in the cargo hold didn't help either. I'm sure these tags can still be used for other purposes.

try 100% infill.

i have a duel extruder and i am wondering if anyone knows what id need to print this with the text hole filled in a different color?

You'd need to use write.scad to create the same text that you did on the luggage tag and ensure that everything is the exact same size, shape, and position.

I printed another one of these yesterday for my wife's luggage. This time I started with black filament, and did a cold pause at 80%, and switched to white filament to finish up. It makes for high contrast, and it's very easy to read.

when i printed this the text came out very ugly and hardly readable... is there a way to make the groove part of the letters more wide?

try using high resolution.

not printing it upside down would increase grooveed width. Or making the font size bigger. Also, the stencil font available here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:100779http://www.thingiverse.com/thi... is wider but you cannot use the customizer in this case.

i did print it with text side up.... np about the customizer.... i guess there is a way to do it in openscad... thou i´m not and expert in openscad

Please add other front like in this model - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:168745http://www.thingiverse.com/thi...

Hi,
the font is here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:100779http://www.thingiverse.com/thi... (http://www.thingiverse.com/download:342150)http://www.thingiverse.com/dow...
We need the admins of Thingiverse to add them to the Customizer first before I can use them there. I already did ask them to.
And while we wait, you can download the stuff and use it with your copy of OpenSCAD.

It took me three or four tries to get this right. I've been using blue tape on my print bed, to make it easier to remove my prints. When I printed this at 230 degrees with PLA on the Replicator 2, the corners kept lifting up, eventually causing the print to fail each time. I messed with different infills, but once I eliminated the blue tape on the bed, it stuck better, and I got a perfect print. Another tip: print the first 80% in one color, and then do a cold pause, and switch to another color filament that has high contrast from the first color. (I've started with white and then switched to blue). It will make the text much easier to read - and it looks WAY-cool! I'm sorry to not show the one that I made, but I'd rather not publish all of my personal information on the Thingiverse if I can help it.

Hey, cool idea using two colors! I bet it looks awesome.
BTW: I found the lifting corners to be very filament specific. Some does it all the time, others never. I found the red and blue material from colorFabb (PLA/PHA) to be especially problematic. Very smooth finishing but awfully difficult to print right.

Can you implement an "sharp s" --> "ß" ? My name is written with is xD

Only letters available with the fonts of write.scad can be used. ANd there is no "ß". Use "ss" instead, I had to as well with my name :-)
But you could add one to the dxf-font-file of write.scad yourself. With some effort.

Looking forward to the flood of people accidentally creating new Things with their personal information on them. This is great!
