I saw some strandbeests at the maker fair..Theo Jannssen told a lot about it. There was also a documantairy on television about this. Nice design and I will surely print this.

Awsome, i've once seen theo jansen @ a beach in holland. ( i live in holland ).
Really cool to see this.

If I may be so bold as to offer an alternative printable one on this comment thread too also with planetary fan drive add on : http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:48087http://www.thingiverse.com/thi...
Good work btw.

I've been searching for a long time for this.... good work !

I've added an STL of the scaled triangle for 4-up printing, an UPP project file for 8-up printing of the scaled legs, and jpegs of both. Sorry, I didn't save an STL of the 8-up legs.

Am I mistaken or are the triangular portions missing from the file list?

I didn't include the parts that were used unmodified apart from the simple 90% scaling, which includes the triangles, the legs, the snap-in shafts, etc. Those can be found in cyclone's set of STL's made from GolanHertz' original Thing: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:169359http://www.thingiverse.com/thi.... Just be sure to scale them so they match all the new parts.

Thank-you! Will do.

Even more impressive in built form. Well done.

Too bad about walking issues, but it is a great piece nonetheless.

Ambitious print on the lil' Afinia/UP! What settings do you print with the Colorfabb PLA? Do you alter the temperature for it too?

I find that Colorfabb prints best with the Up set to "PLA mode" and default temperature. The black ABS is OEM material printed at full temp (260C) and the gray and green are 3rd party ABS printed at 230C.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to try some Colorfabb PLA :)

There is now a U.S. reseller for Colorfabb filaments: http://www.printedsolid.com/http://www.printedsolid.com/

I may when i find the time! I think aside from sports cars... Strandbeest's are my very best favorite thing in the whole world.

I think with some tweaking you can get it to function quite well! Nice job!

Have at it!

Well Done.
I recomend others google Strandbeest
interesting stuff to say the least!
