This is a 3mm acrylic laser cut enclosure for the Lulzbot Taz6 enclosure. It uses the corner brackets to hold it in place and encloses the whole printer. If you don't have access to a laser cutter you can purchase a kit that includes everything except the 3d printed parts at https://printedsolid.com/products/lulzbot-taz-6-safety-enclosure-kit

This design is based on lots of research and time and tested by multiple companies and users and I am very proud to bring it to the public.

What screws are being used here? Any hinges? If so, what kind?

Take note that the printed brackets need supports, i printed a batch without any assuming they were ready-to-print and had to reprint with supports

Table Top Dimensions? What would be the minimum table top dimensions to hold the Taz 6 with this enclosure? I would mount the filament on top. Also, do you have version without side mount holes / bracket allowance?

According to the description in the Lulzbot store, "The enclosure sits on the same table surface as your 3D printer when assembled. The small footprint adds only only 62 mm (2.44 in) along the Y-axis (from front to back)."

Regarding the question of the mount holes/bracket allowance, are you asking for a version that does not have cut outs in the acrylic for the side mount spool holder parts?

Thanks for the dimension info. I would be top mounting the filament and would not need the side cutouts. I suppose they wouldn't be a problem or huge sound leak but I was wondering if no holes was an option.

Is there a need for ventilation?

BTW , attached pic shows my horrendous but effective current enclosure for the office.

Regarding the ventilation question, I can't think of any reason that it would be a problem to not have the cutouts. I suppose at some point extra heat in the enclosure could be problematic, but I would be extremely surprised if you reached that point. These panels do not produce a tight fit - there are several other air gaps in the design, including a big slot in the top panel for the filament.

I just modified a couple of the panels. On Panel F I deleted the fan slots and fan mounting holes, on Panel Q, i removed the cutouts for the side mounted filament spool parts. You will have to remove those parts in order to fit the panel on your TAZ 6, obviously.

I haven't tried cutting these panels out yet, but we have laser cutters at my local maker space. I will try to stop by tomorrow to make the modified panels and upload pictures.

Can you please share a link to the spool holder you have on the top in the photos?

Where can I find the DXFs?

They are coming soon. I'm reworking everything.

Do you use the enclosure with PLA as well as ABS? Does it really dramatically improve print quality?

For PLA it's mainly to keep the noise, dust, pets out. For ABS it helps prevents drafts and really does lessen layer warping.

I just picked up this enclosure. Very excited to put together. The only question I have and I can only assume it's all good... The enclosure takes into account the largest object (XYZ space) one could create on the Taz6 bed -- so something maximum size wont bang into the inside of the enclosure as the bed moves around... towards and away from user (Y). Back in a bit!

You are correct. That is why there is the step back at the top and the bracing on the inside. That frames out the actual build volume all the way forward and backwards.

Thanks drandolph - I will be back with photos. Thank you for designing this, it was much needed for the Taz6

Will this work for the Taz 5?

No but check out my other designs. I just finished a TAZ5 design.

Thanks! This will replace the cardboard box ...
