Dag Lieven,

Mvg
Jorgy

Dag Jorgy,

Vriendelijke groeten,
Lieven.

I'm not in the position to make these, but I sure would love to buy them from you if that's possible. I have 2 of these Lock lights, so I'd need 6 clips. I've broken 1 so far, and I know I'll be breaking more since they're all probably quite brittle. Any chance you'd be willing to sell me some? I live in Idaho in the US. And I'm wondering if you've tried making them out of metal so they don't get brittle over time?

Hey Sharon,

I'm located in Europe, so I think it is better to check with a local 3D printer to obtain the clips. Shipment would be too expensive. You can search for people in your neighborhood on http://3dhubs.com

I have not tried making them in metal, the clips I printed are stronger than the original ones :-)

Best regards,
Lieven.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I'll try that option.

I just finished my own design of a clamp replacement since I couldn't find the name of the lamp first hand. Silly me, since it took me three attempts to the get the design right.

Just out of curiosity: How'd you do get the shape of the clamp right? For my part, I scanned an intact clamp, created an SVG which I then extruded to a 3D model.

Hey @johannrichard,

I put the parts of the broken clip on my flatbed scanner, and scanned it to PNG.
Then I imported the PNG into SketchUp, went over the shape with the 'pencil' tool and then extruded that shape to the width it had to be. Took me 10 minutes and gave me a working clip in one attempt.

Kind regards,
Lieven.

Same thing happened to me, the clip broke while trying to remove the glass dome to change the lightbulb. Then I stumbled upon your site. Thanks so much for sharing the 3-D file! I have placed an order for the clips with a local 3-D printer vendor today, so it should be here by the end of the week! I am glad I did not have to throw away the whole lamp just because of a broken clip and add to the land fill. THANKS AGAIN for your help!!!
