I redid the model under Anet size and printed
But it was a bad variant, the problem caps screws, and a general loss of stability due to the small contact area.
The final variants works well.

Am I supposed to move the 8mm T-Lead screw nuts from the in-box X-Axis brackets to this one instead (leaving the upper-hole on the existing bracket empty), or buy a second nut to make this hold the bottom while the existing bracket holds the top?

A picture showing the entire assembly would be helpful and prevent this question in the future.

What is the centerdistance of the holes?

I need 21.5 mm. 22 mm maybe work also.

Where I can find that gold nut?

Nice idea, printed these last night but the bit that clamps onto the guide rod was way too tight.

I made a before and after print, there was virtually no difference in quality. Should these be tight or loose on the guide rods?

I had the same problem. The piece was really tight and increased friction enough that it had difficulty moving the z-axis, and actually caused damage to my printer. I'm not sure how it's supposed to be set up, or if it even has a positive effect on print quality. I'll have to see if it's worth trying again.

I think that works really well. But the design will not slice out of the box with Simplify 3D. If anybody has this problem: Use "Separate Connected Surfaces" from the Mesh menu. And while you are at it you can also just scale it a bit in Z to fit the original screws (but before you separate).

Had you given the design 2mm more thickness, it would have been possible to use the original screws as well. Too bad i found out they now stick out a couple of mm, so i have to search/buy ones that fit. Unfortunate oversight imo.

Put the screws and nuts upside down

I put an extra nut underneath. So it worked out. I was a bit grumpy because, had i known, i would have printed it at 5% more height or so, but i had already unscrewed the threadbars etc, and i didn't want to wait or tun to the store. Anyway, thanks for the design. Seems to work very well.

Hi sorry if this is a stupid question but do I need to get that brass nut like thing in the bottom and those screws with the nuts or do they come with the Anet A8.

I bought my first 3d printer and I'm still waiting for it to arrive.


I bought mine recently, and it didn't come with any extras. They were attached to the Z axis nut supports. I'll have to look into the right names to know what to get.

Edit: It looks like an 8mm T-lead screw nut.

They come with the A8, nothing to worry about!

I used four screws M3x15mm with nuts on each side.

Very Nice, but the "clamp" seems to be to narrow for me. i get rattling noises up and down an the clamp is holding by itself on the metal rod. Tomorrow i will widen it a little bit with a drill. do that it will run smooth along the rod.

The device should be able to slide on the smooth rod.
But without much backlash.
I'm doing the right diameter, sandpaper (grain size medium)
Emery paper wound on a pin of suitable diameter.
We do everything slowly.
The work is not difficult

Nice...I used a set for a different printer, it as ok contact area, but yours has a huge ledge for much greater contact area! Great job!
