This is my own design of the Fidget Cube.

the plastic handle need to be removed

1 mm steal rod (see in the pictures)

The sixth tactile switch is located inside the ball holder

Important - glue the tactile switchs + "buttons" in their place first, and after that glue the "ball holder" (and remember to locate the sixth tactile switch and the steel ball bearing inside the 'ball holder" before gluing it)

100% on the small parts, 25% on the body


All the parts were printed with PLA.
Print Body1 with a brim.
Body1 and Body2 were printed with 25% infill, rest of the parts were printed at 100% infill.

I can't find the specific ball bearings mentioned, is there any alternative?

If you have a CAD software you could design your own. The outer diameter is 21.1 mm

are the buttons supposed to slide onto the smd push buttons or supposed to sit on top of them? (the moving part)
do you use glue between the both?

slide onto... its a thigh fit so you can sand the inside a bit. i used super glue just in case but you don't really need to. but if you decide to use glue, put a tiny bit inside the printed buttons and make sure you don't glue the entire thing solid.

what glue did you use? also, the gears were not fitting properly. any suggestions?

i used thick super glue, and every printer have different tolerance, so some filling is needed, i can tell you i filed some parts a bit to get a perfect fit (especially the slots)

Had an issue with the roller file, added the support to the file and it worked!

of course you need support, read the print setting

How did you smooth the pla parts like in the picture? Also i cant seem to find the rocker switch anywhere but AliExpress. On AliExpress it costs $8 for shipping :O do you know where i can get it cheaper?

what is the problem with the print?

when it starts to print the disc area (once the post is done printing), the printer head moves off to the right and begins to print in mid air.

printed it again and it worked just fine. maybe the problem is in your printer

try Miniature Toggle Switch or Q24. i bought from an electronics store

Unfortunately that's impossible, you cant print mechanical stuff like the Tactile switch, joystick and rocker switch.

The cost of the switch (including shipping) is the price of original fidget cube. Do you know a cheaper alternative to suggest ?

You don't have to buy it online. The toggle switch was the only component i bought from a local electronic store at a cost of just 1$.
I think the type you need is called Q24 .

what did you use to smooth out the PLA or is your printer super awesome.

The print quality at the PrintrBot Simple Metal is quit good, so all you need to do is some sending to smooth off the print lines and if you want a glossy look a thin spry of acrylic topcoat

This is a super cool build, especial since I wanted a fidget cube and missed the deadline. My only request is a more detailed tutorial, because I am a little confused on how you would stick it all together. Thank you so much. I will be printing one asap.

The cube is glued together so making a tutorial will be a bit problematic now, but if you got stuck at any stage of the build, feel free to ask me a question, and i will try my best to help.

Are the subminiature rockers a standard size? Or is there one on aliexpress that would work?

I updated the link to an Aliexpress one. basically I tried different kind of switches and this one was the best because of it's small dimensions and the fact that the switch doesn't have a pivot, so you just pull off the plastic handle and insert the 3D printed part instead.

It would be awesome to fit a bluetooth chip inside this so the buttons work :)

I have to try printing this just to see if my M3D can do it! Awesome work on the model. This would be my kids favourite print ever if I can get it done.
