EDIT: May 2019. Printed with clear PLA that has different color permanent marker pens scribbled on the reel before printing. The results are a bit random and quite pretty.
The "Gecko 1.5 Magnet" file has a slightly modified hole to make putting the magnet in a bit easier.
First off, this is NOT my design!
The original is from...
I wish I has this sort of talent.
All I did was to add a 6x1.5mm magnet hole to it so our little gecko can stick to the fridge as a real gecko would.
Shown is the gecko printed at .3mm res and .1mm so you can see the difference.
This thing modification was made with Tinkercad. Edit it online https://www.tinkercad.com/things/j7qCpJpKzCg
EDIT: 20180726 I saw this article... It tells how to dye Nylon.
so thought I'd have a go.
A reel of Nylon was placed on its side in an icecream container with enough dye to go a little less than half way up the reel. First was brown.
After 30 mins, it was taken out to drain then washed. This was repeated for the other side in yellow.
Then the reel was placed for the night on a heater to dry it a bit. Both pics are of the same Gecko but the camera changed the colour. I'm pretty impressed! But I have to fiddle with the printer settings as the layers are separating.
.1 for good results, but .3 is ok too.
This is a great little model, hats off to WebmasterZero :)
It prints well with no support or raft needed and is a very popular one with the grandchildren (and grownups too).
This is WebmasterZero's design with a hole for a 6x1.5mm magnet superglued into it.
