Summary

This can join the two ends of an ethernet cable so you can coil it up, and keep the ends together and protect the clips a bit, especially when stored with piles of other cables.

Instructions

There is a slight overhang on the top but it seems to print OK anyway.

This model is more or less parametric.

If the plug is too snug, increase slide; or decrease it if it is too loose.

len is the length of the hole beyond the back of the clip.

Trying to adapt this design, I find that it won't open in openscad.. Open it and the viewport is entirely empty, showing nothing no matter what I do.

This part was originally authored in OpenSCAD in mm.
I just tested it in OpenSCAD 2013.2.28 (latest ubuntu), and it is fine.

Perhaps your viewport settings and units are scrambled.

I was completely ignorant of openscad at the time. I thought it was an editor where you opened it and saw the part, like Blender or the like. Now I know the secret. Hit F5! Heh.

If you want to be cyber fashion then you can model the connector to hang some other techno-gadget. The 12" or 24" cables will work for this.

Not interested in cyber fashion. And I have better uses for short cables than abusing them like that, and cheaper ways to hang things too.

I was thinking of making a single ended version of this with side wings on the socket side to protect the clip when pulling cables...
