Watching movies on your iPhone usually results in one of two things:

a) Achey arms (holding it up to eye level)

b) Creaky neck (from looking down at it)

the gumPhone aims to solve these problems by using one of the most powerful muscles in your body: your jaw! Now you can watch movies wherever & whenever with ease. gumPhone! Yeah!

Simply print one of each of the parts, snap them together, insert phone and off you go!

Updated design includes a slot for headphone access & cutout for the iPhone camera, so the gumPhone can be used as a headcam, cool!

Your teeth would start to get crooked if you use it a lot, also people would look at you like you are crazy

It's a new way of looking at design. I think it's pretty cool for a design project.

Say hello to TMJ Migraines.

la estupidez mas grande que he visto... asi esto no avanzará nunca

Actually your jaw wouldn't drop, it would stay shut in order to keep the phone from falling.

this is actually a thing for holding gopros... looks so weird but produces steady shots

No GoPros, but Microwaves (with cameras)

If its stupid and it works, it aint stupid

But so stupid that its brilliant :D

Silly but practical, would work great as a way to get people to shut their mouths!

You are my new Hero.

You are my new Hero.

This wouldn't work well with IPhone6S would it

No I'm kidding its obviously a crappy April fools joke

April 1st jokes aside... This could be very usefull to handicapped people.

Ohhhh, I need it.
I will give it to my wife for when she watch series/movies, 3 bigs advantages:

-she don't use TV, I can watch the Teletubbies while she watch Dr House
-Can't comment everything during the movie, my brain and ears can rest
-practicce mouth muscles...... héhé ;)

What kind of iPhone does this work with? Hopefully iPhone 5s?

You do realize that the whole design is a joke, right? April Fool's.

Now you can look like an idiot, missalign teeth, make your jaw tired AND watch a movie at the same time... Amazing....

Lol seriously this might be a liability issue, would not have used it as a joke on a community printing site... Reckless.

I love it! Can I make one for #1 daughter who could then watch movies on one phone, text with another and drive all at the same time. :)

Does this thing have code to disable builds on any days other than the start of April?

It would be great for my teen.. he could use his phone and won't talk back or complain because his mouth will be occupied with his phone..

I didn't realize it was an April fools joke until I read the comments. I was actually considering making it but realized the issue that what would u do if u want to eat something.

Now you can polish your rocket using both hands!

My thoughts exactly. :-)

I thought this was an well conceived and implemented April fools joke. On the off chance someone takes it seriously I have one thing to say TMJ problems are in your future.

This is a good idea for people with handicaps.

Very effective birth control too !!!!

lol April fools.. man, i'd go even blinder than I already am using that hahah

Hey! All I have to do is shorten the stem a bit so my nearsighted eyes can focus on the screen, and I can use it in camera mode when I lose my glasses :-).

I like this idea, but it needs a retractable chin brace. Maybe also a strap for sporting activities. Don't forget a compartment for the earphones and an overhead stabilizer. Its ready to go to market. Good luck.

I have a 1996 Nokia 9000 communicator. Will this fit?

That's awesome but I'm thinking I'm not going to use it to watch Lawrence of Arabia :)

Distracted walking may have dire consequences! :)

Its not often true genius presents itself, but this most certainly is just that

Some people dont get April fools day.

Плохая идея. Зрение убьете моментом.

Where's the 3D printed hammer to whack these things into peoples mouths for being the guy on a plane watching something on their tooth phone.

Good job ! But it needs a hole where you can pour the beer in.

Yes!!!..like a reservoir at back with channeling down the mouth pieces and a knob to adjust flow rate!

I hate that I might actually print this.....

T-Glase is food safe...

The torque this must apply to your teeth over time must be horrendous. Still. It looks kewl.

PLA is not food safe correct?

Oh, forgot to mention, there is food safe epoxy that you can coat your prints with to make them food safe and fill those little gaps where bacteria can grow

Technically no, it depends if the factory it comes from is food safe. PETG is supposed to be 'FDA Approved for Food Conact'.

I buy most of my stuff from MakerGeeks, they have some food safe/fda approved stuff, and now DishWasher Safe

Even if you use food safe filament, your print is unlikely to be fit for use in food service. 3D prints have lots of tiny crevices, not just from the layers. Check out this article: https://pinshape.com/blog/3d-printing-food-safe/ I feel like MakerGeeks FDA approval is marketing bologna. Even if their product is safer than PLA and the raw filament is serviceable, your 3D print probably is not. So unless you plan on cutting the filament into strips and using it as stir sticks you would probably be better off not eating off of FDM prints.

The only "3d printed" objects I would use in food service would be the ceramics from Shapeways.

Love the idea- I'm going to print this soon!

Yeah, well how's it gonna affect your mouth? As in how the PLA will affect someone.

Hands free for driving!!!

Featured on April Fool's day makes sense

Because you'd have to be a FOOL not to realize how great of an idea this is!

Lmao, this is ridiculous.

...printing one out right now.

I think you've really got too much time on your hands, seriously......

Have you done a trade off with different types of plastic? I would think ABS would be more durable, whereas PLA would be tastier. If you printed it in nylon, maybe you could train yourself to compensate for those 'shakey cam' style movies by bouncing your phone to steady the image....

And I thought wearing Bicycle gloves on an Airplane got me funny looks.

so much for snacking on popcorn whilw watching a movie...

It's a diet plan also! Cut down on the snacking.
