Simple smart folded stand for your Smart Phone, iPod Touch or iPhone.

Easy to use self attaching stand for your smart device.

Squeeze together when not in use and store in your pocket or bag.

Is this Yet another Smart Device stand?

Yes and No - There is a lot of very creative and good designs on this site, but none fitted what I was looking for.

A simple light weight hand free stand for my iPod Touch to watch potcasts everywhere. When not in use; easy to fold and store in my pocket.

As the pictures show the stand is printed flat and gently folded before use. The material used is white ABS, but I am sure other materials will do as well (not tested).

Printed using layer height of 0.3mm with 0.4mm nozzle diameter and solid infill.

The hinge has a design thickness of 0.5mm and depending on slice program and layer height, it may be more or less regrid to fold. Try to make the hinge round and without sharp edges.

Added STEP (.stp) file to make it easier to change and evolve the design :)

I've printed this stand twice at the specifications and care instructions given. Each time the hinges have failed after several hours - the plastic was flexible when warm, but as soon as it had cooled completely, it became quite brittle and snapped. the stand also doesn't accomodate the width of an iPhone

I'm not the happy owner of one of the new iPhones, but I think they are bigger than the original model. Primary I use the stand for my iPod Touch 4G and the size are right for that.

If you like I could try making a bigger version if you could tell me how big...

Care should be taken when bending the hinge for the first time. I use a small steel rod to give the bend a nice round shape.

Maybe there are different types of ABS and they are not equally flexible. The one I have been using is from http://grrf.dehttp://grrf.de (ABS Plastic - Natural).

I have seen cracks after use but they can be fixed (glued) with a little acetone.

This is pretty similar to some poorly-formed ideas I've had for a phone stand for my droid x. What program did you make this in, and would it be possible to get the source file so I don't have to rebuild the model? Even just a .STEP file would be terrific.

I used AutoDesk Inventor 2012 to create this smart stand. Not sure how common this 3D design tool is among Thingiverse users.

Exported the design to a STEP file as this format can be imported by a lot of CAD systems. Enjoy :)
