Hey is there a way to make this into an .stl? I dont have openSCAD. I plan on strapping a sharpie onto my printer and setting extrusion to 0, and having it draw onto paper. I can figure out the rest I just need the .stl.

How did you make this? Did you use a program to do it? Or did you just draw it in Inkscape or another program by hand?

This drawing is so cool!!! I just made one and I'm posting the picture now! Couldn't be happier with how well it turned out!

Does using a script to trace a bunch of pictures really count enough for a submission here?

There's more to it than just pointing a script at an image. But, even if that were all there is... then yes, I believe it does count enough for a submission.

Once the original image becomes a single line SVG it becomes much easier to map/draw onto an egg using an eggbot, a post-it using a unicorn, or a large sheet of paper using a drawbot such as the polargraph.

But, of course, this is just one man's opinion. I'd be interetest in hearing other people
's opinion on the topic.

I take it you would disagree?

Can this be made into an STL file and printed?

Hmmm.... YES! As an SVG you could, by various arcane means, import it into OpenSCAD and save as an STL from there.

After hearing the reasons for it, I can agree. However I believe maybe it would be better served that a couple of these are posted as one item, the tutorial linked, and let people create from that tutorial. It's just kind of getting frustrating looking into the new section for stuff, and seeing 5 line drawings that a script created, and 7 different nametags also generated and posted here. It clutters up the place horribly.

I think it's fine. I like it more if I just have to download the TSP I like than having to find the picture and follow the directions from the tutorial, great turorial btw! (too bad though that rquires windows :-P)

Should we stop uploading, say, OpenSCAD designs becaure there is already a bunch of OpenSCAD designs in thingiverse? From my point of view, the source image is not just a parameter in the OpenSCAD script but a completely new design.

Just my 2 cents
