I ran across Nervous Systems [email protected] app, based on their Kinematics post. This is a bracelet I made for my wife based on that system. Can't believe how well it turned out! You can download and print this thing, or go to the above link and make your own.


After I designed the bracelet and downloaded the stl, the first print failed: Turns out the stl was pretty messy (many holes and separate shells). I ran it through Netfabb Cloud and the resultant stl (uploaded here) printed great on my Replicator (1).
I got ahold of Nervous Systems: They said they're still working on the app, and hope to have those issues resolved in the future.

  • Glass build platform with hairspray, HBP off.
  • 2 shells
  • 0% infill
  • Light silver pla, extruded @ 220 deg.
  • Printed in 1 hour, 18 minutes.

Do you mean 100% infill, not 0%?

I just tried with 0% and it was a mess.

If I remember, it was 0%: It is so small, the floor/roof & shells supported it just fine for me. But doing it @ 100% probably wouldn't hurt ;)

Did you print this with a raft between the object and the build plate or just straight on the build plate?

Directly on the plate without a problem: I use a removable glass plate on my Rep1, with blue painters tape on it.

Jealous! On every computer I've tried, clicking the Download Free STL button doesn't do anything. :( Thanks for sharing so I can print one of these!

Kinematics @ Home bracelets

The silver PLA looks cool. I created one with the Kinematics app but netfabb cloud failed to clean it up. Designed a second, with holes closed, looked good on build plate and printed fine on Rep2 except clasp. Hoping I can make it work on third try. Thanks for sharing!

On the first one I printed, before I ran it through netfabb, the clasp area is what failed as well: It didn't fill in the volume of the clasp with the little knob, making it very fragile. And the clasp on the other side fused with the kinetic bits. I contacted nervous system explaining the problem: They said they were aware the 'smooth' version had issues when making clean mesh, but they were working on it. They said the sharp version should produce better mesh in the meantime. Too bad netfabb didn't work for you :(
