In the spirit of the holiday season, I put a simple twist on the default rabbit that Meshmixer provides with their software. Based off of Rudolph from the original Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer movie from 1964, the Reindeer Rabbit has its own little reindeer antlers and a new nose. Yes, I realize this could just as easily be considered a Jackalope. Call it what you want. This is a quick print with minimal material (it's hollow) so you can make one for yourself or multiple to give as simple gifts to family and friends. Merry printing to all!
I used Craftware to print this part. You can download it here for free https://craftunique.com/craftware. I like it better than Cura and it's worth trying out. I took screenshots of all my slicing settings in Craftware if you want to try printing it exactly the way I did. I also included the .cwprj and .gcode along with the .stl.
There is really no need to print this with any infill, however if you scale up the part it might be worth trying some infill. The trickiest part to print are the antlers. The ears aren't too difficult with the right supports. I used Makergeeks Maker Series PLA printing at 230 C for most of the print. I reduced the temperature to 215 C once it started printing the antlers to reduce drooping and stringing. I also slowed the speed to 70% for the antlers but it didn't seem to make any difference. You'll need as much cooling as possible for the antlers to get the best results. Because this is a relatively small print, it doesn't use much material and prints in about an hour. I printed it first using a 0.2mm layer height without changing the temperature or speed for the antlers and the only real difference was slightly less smooth antlers. Feel free to ask any questions or post some tips in the comments and please include a picture of your print if you make one. Thanks!
Use a heat gun or a lighter with a quick motion to remove/reduce and stringing left behind. My supports broke off cleanly and knife was used to remove any little nubs left behind from the support material.
