Print Thing TagSummary
I've been looking for a decent gummy bear mold and they all seemed too expensive, so here is a printable version. The two piece mold with 20 bears is a modified version of the Snowman maker and (in my experience) would only be suitable for thicker things poured into it. Regular gummy mix seem to just run right through (or my clamps are too loose). I've included a full 72 gummy plate with full length grooves between the cavities for easy removal of entire trips of finished bears. If your printer can't handle such a large mold (or you don't want to wait) I've also included two smaller 36 bear molds. They're identical to the 72 cavity version only chopped in half.
This design uses a remix of the Snowman maker mold and the Classic Gummy Bear model. The 20 bear version uses a sliced version of the Classic Gummy Bear while the plates use the full model plus a half plate from the Snowman maker.
My standard mix is 1 box flavored gelatin, 2 packages unflavored gelatin, 2/3 cup liquid
For the liquid you can use water, or fruit juice. I prefer apple juice, but you could probably use any juice to complement the flavor of your gelatin. You can also use 1/3 cup water/juice and 1/3 cup of your favorite liquor. Cheap vodka works well.
If you're doing the non-alcoholic version add your liquid to a pot on the stove then dump in all the gelatin and let it sit for about 5 minutes until moisture is absorbed. Then heat until all the sugars melt and pour into the mold. I prefer using a syringe as in the included photos. If you're doing the 50/50 mix with alcohol add your alcohol after the mixture is heated and then begin pouring.
A full batch should do 120-130 bears easy.
The first photo was a 1/2 test batch of grape flavor and it filled nearly 2/3 of the mold. I did spray it down lightly with oil before pouring just for good measure. All of the gummy bears were easy to remove and most came out in strips like in the photo.
