I think a great mod would be to move the batteries down to the feet. Looks like there is nearly room for them there as is.

How long until we get a printable BigDog?

Very nice. I'm getting into the 3d Printing as well and things like this are just the beginning to taking over the world!

Watched the video. Very cool! Have you tried/considered some rubber coating on this feet for traction?

I did slap on some of those lamp sliders and rubber stoppers, they do help with traction for sure on slick surfaces. There are probably multiple mods that can be made to smooth out the weight transfer like moving the batteries down to the rear and front of the bridge to get an overall lower center of gravity as well as slowing down the agressive transfer of each stepper rotation in the step cycle. The cool thing was watching it take it's first step! I was gasping for air after 983 face plants! I quickly reversed the cycle for reverse, doubled up single steps for left/right turns and pushed him out for others to laugh at and play with on their own.

Almost every 4 servo biped I have seen is kind of gimmicky with smooth stepping, you just don't have the points of motion required for ideal bipedal balance transfer. Nice thing is MegaPed you start cheap and can grow/re-config pretty quickly so playing with additional hardware should be as simple as printing more "I Braces" and putting more servos/batteries on order with Amazon... As soon as I clear some more time I'll try modding my build up.
