The back right foot is corrupt :(

OK, I just picked up a Wanhao Duplicator i3Plus.
Nearly the first thing I printed was this Z-brace :)
Everything printed fine, but after I installed it on my printer,
I recognized a problem (or maybe the problem is me?)
This current design will work well to reduce acceleration in the -Y axis,
however, due to the lack of any restraint on the top of the bottom brace
points, there is no bracing that reduces acceleration in the +Y direction.
Just try pulling the top of the printer forward and you will see that
threaded rod will slide downward more than a few millimeters until it hits
the table below. A stop nut pair from above will work, inelegantly, but the
current nut-balls are too large and contact the control box.

Any other suggestions?

I have updated the Front Right Support to allow the nut to fit correctly into the pocket. Thanks

"Plus_frt_right-plug.STL" still is tiny when loaded but i just mirrored the "Plus_frt_left-plug.STL" file

Thanks for the work on this!

Oh no, I didnt look over as the stl only the solidworks file. Is the scale incorrect or the nut size is to small?

Thank you so much for designing this, but to answer your question, the front right STL is quite small, like maybe grain of rice small when viewed in Cura.

Same problem. I flipped the front left in Cura.

It seems that the hole for the nut on the front right bracket is not hollowed out completely for the nut to fit. I printed it out and the nut didn't fit all the way up in there so I looked at the STL and sure enough it is designed that way (different from the front left bracket).

Can this be easily fixed? (I'll probably try burning/cutting it out of mine...)

Thanks for the great design though!

I should have the stl file corrected. Look over and let me know, sometimes its hard to judge your own work. Thanks

YOUR CORRECT, I DID MERGE THE ORIGINAL STL FILE INTO A STEP FILE AND ADDED THE SUPPORTS FOR THE LEVELING FEET. I AM NOT REAL PROFICIENT WITH SOLIDWORKS YET BUT WILL ATTEMPT TO CORRECT. THANKS

You said to print six of the balls. In the original thing, I see the two different types of balls, but the wiki page for construction says to print four. Do I really need only four?

FOUR IS CORRECT TWO ON THE LEFT UPPER AND TWO ON THE RIGHT UPPER. USE A HEX NUT ON THE LOWER SUPPORTS.

what size rod did you end up going with. is 400mm long enough?

I used 5/16"-18UNC X18" length but could of trimmed 3/8" off and had enough. I just took a measurement to double check and the 400mm will be too short, 450mm would work.

Anti-vibration feet for Wanhao Duplicator i3 Plus

Thanks for going through the trouble and making this. Made it easy for me.

One correction to the instructions for the benefit of others, you only need to print four MK2 balls, not six. And print Azza's NutPlugRight.stl and NutPlugLeft.stl for stabilizing the rod and nut in the front bottom feet.

I did some evaluation and I think feet for the middle gantry parts would add additional stability. There is still a decent amount of vibration on the top of the unit around the spool holder base compared to lower sections. Feet might help stabilize that. I'll see what I can do next time I'm playing around in design software. It would help if you shared the source 3D files to enable copy of the threaded furniture glides design.

Sorry, I have not got around to designing leveling feet for the center supports. I am not sure you need them. My printer is pretty level without and seems very stable. I have seen some designs but without levelers.

I just upgraded to the Plus and I need to do the z-brace. I love this design and really want adjustable feet for my machine leveling. Is there an option for feet for the middle gantry parts? Or is the floating gantry an issue at all? I noticed there are gantry adjustable feet for other versions of the duplicator i3 but not the Plus.
