We wanted to make a mobile microscope that could be taken to the shareholders to show live results. It's also useful to be able to set up the scope in the office rather than the lab.
This is not great for fine-detail work, but is good to be able to see Brownian motion of 1micron particles. The stand was expected to be wobbly but came out with very little wobble.
It is difficult to get the right height but with a little bit of adjusting (about 3 minutes), we got a good picture.
Designed in SolidWorks 2015 from scratch.
This was the second prototype. Future designs will incorporate a better height adjustment and x and y adjustments. The x and y was not required for this design as we are using microfluidic channels and the field of view is fixed.
Mini microscope made by me. 1micon Poly beads 1% conc. The black zig zag line is a heating element within the chip. The path line is 10 micron thick.
