These worked great to take out the layer shifting in the crappy Tiko I was given!

I tried printing the upper clips (the -6 version) in ABS with high infill and 0.30mm layers and I went too far: the hot end never gets low enough to become visible through the clear plastic, and it prints from there...

Why do you specifically recommend a non-transparent PLA?
What is the difference between a transparent and non-transparent PLA?

It's specifically transparent ABS that I think would be a problem in this application, I find it tends to craze and eventually crack under load, unless it's really overbuilt. More info on my experiences here: http://thrinter.com/walters-filament-collection-abs/#transparent-abs

I don't think there's too much difference between transparent and opaque PLA, opaque PLA has more colorant, which can affect print quality, but I don't think that's too common.

Thanks for the clarification!

Maybe you could temper the PLA-clip 130°C about 15min. to release tension and make it less brittle?

That's a great idea, I've seen some tests that seem to show that PLA is much stronger and more creep resistant after tempering. I don't expect the brittleness of PLA would be an issue for these clips, they only need to bend a bit to put tension on the motor mounts.
