These hangers hold the headset by the hinges, avoiding potential scuffs or damage to the straps, cloth cover or foam faceplate.

I'm sad to say it's too flimsy overall.

Sorry to hear that. You can double the Z-axis height to make it thicker.

Can I ask how the part failed? so I can tweak the design.

At first the screw holes broke but I could live with it. But then Roomba got into my VR room and pulled on the headset cable so the arm broke of because it's way too thin. I think there needs to be a lot more "meat" everywhere. Also the model has microscopic gaps and overhangs. http://imgur.com/a/xPlar
