Summary

This proyect allow to create a cheap trackballl mouse starting from a conventional optical Mouse. A Trackball mouse allow people with hand/arm movement problems to control a computer.

It is very important for the function of the trackball mouse that the center of the mouse's laser should touch (or be very near) to the ball.

You will need to download this software (http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA026826/ ) in order to reverse the direction of the mouse.Also it is recommended slow down the mouse speed.

This object was made for the "Mutual de Seguridad C.Ch.C" from Chile. In a project of the Direction of innovation and development, and the Neuro rehabilitation institute.

Notes:

The resolution for all parts except the ball is 0.3mm. The ball should be very smooth, so it is recommended to print it with 0.1mm resolution and sand it after print.

Post-Printing

Assemble

  1. Take off the circuit of an optic mouse. 2. Weld wires to each pin of the switch of the right and left button. 3. Weld a flat switch at the end of the wires (One for each button). 4. Put the circuit inside the "Box Mouse", you can fix it with silicone or melt some PLA like in the picture. 5. Fix the "Box Mouse" to the "Box Big". 6. Fix the "Switch Base" on the "Box Big" and fix the flat switch to them. 7. Put over the flat switch the printed Switch, and fix the "Ball Base" where is indicated in the picture. 8. Place the Ball over. 9 Fix the "Box Top". 10. Optionally you can stick something anti-slip at the bottom

He hecho una carcasa para trackball ergonómica en la que encaja el mecanismo interno de tu diseño (o cualquier otro con una bola redimensionada al mismo tamaño de 5 cm.). El diseño es más ergonómico y a la medida exacta de la mano de una persona en concreto con una limitación funcional en el rango de movimiento del dedo pulgar.
La carcasa permite una posición más cómoda de la mano en posición de reposo para prevenir lesiones posturales.

I'd love to remix this into an ergonomic gaming trackball mouse. All you can find is the piece of junk Logitech one.

The Logitech trackball is actually really good, it just wasn't designed for gaming in mind. But it does work really well for gaming regardless.
