Summary

For all those times when you need light milling, aren't too worried about precision and have a reprap sitting right next to you already.

Instructions

*** NOTE: A reprap is not a suitable machine for fine work! Direct belt drive is simply the wrong configuration for milling.

This object is purely for those of us who need it done cheaply and easily rather than properly.

Print, clamp around dremel, screw to X carriage.

Hello , I wanted to know which program generates the kss file.

I usually use the kisslicer and then charge the kss file in the pronterface . But I find no program to replace the kisslicer to generate a kss file but function as 3D milling machine.

Greetings and Thanks

Is precision enough to make heating bed PCB?

It might be good enough to make http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:11305http://www.thingiverse.com/thi... , give it a try and let me know!

Would love for you to post a pic with one Thing creating the other!

PCB Heatbead for Home Etching

Liked because:

  1. I'll probably make this.
  2. I just saw the 1950s triffid movie, and I appreciate your username. :)

hi triffid! How wobbly is it, would one need a secondary holder at the top?

I made a writeup about reprap pcb milling recently:
http://bernhardkubicek.soup.io/post/244415439/notes-on-PCB-milling-on-reprapshttp://bernhardkubicek.soup.io...

greetings,
berhard

It has a little wobble, quite a bit less than I expected though.

As you say in your article, due to the belts it's useless for precision work like PCBs, but might do in a pinch for a low res one.

Interestingly, I have just as much wobble in my X carriage itself as I do from the dremel mount, so a support that reaches near the top will only go so far to reducin
g wobble.

Try it for PCB milling if you want, I may give it a go at some point although I'm not expecting a clean SOIC footprint or anything!
