Summary

This is a modified X/Y axis motor bracket for the Wanhao Duplicator 6 and Monoprice Maker Ultimate. This allows the addition of the Astrosyn MY17RMDAMP Nema 17 damper without modification to the motor or belt sprocket. I included 2 versions. One has a custom support that works well with the orientation I printed and settings I used.

what dampers does this work with? the ones from banggood? there seem to be several different dimensions

This didn't quite work out for me; sliced it in Cura 2.5, printed it in ABS+ but because the layers printed cross grain I got a split when trying to adjust belt tension. Plus the motor was flexing just a little too much. I think adding some small braces inside or even rounding the top and adding a small wall on each side would get rid of that movement.

I uploaded an updated version with a bit more bracing around the motor mount. As for layer delamination, my set I printed in ABS had similar issues. I ended up printing at 235c with flow set at 104%. That seemed to do the trick with layer bonding. Also, I kept the fan speed down to 40%.

What fan speed would you suggest for a factory stock d6 please?

Thanks very much I shall give it ago using those settings.I don't have a dual fan though mine is still a stock spec
Cheers

Do you have the link to the new updated stronger version please?
thankyou very much

The files on this page are now the new version.

Thanks a lot.will this new version have sorted out the flexing issue?
Can this be printed layed flat?
When I tried printing it on its end I ended up with just a melted mess (abs)
Thankyou

I printed mine standing up. Here are my settings that were successful with Hatchbox ABS:
235c nozzle
105c bed
35% fan (dual fan mod) on after layer 3
104% flow
~50mm/s speed

Yeah, I thought about reprinting too but got lazy since I had to remount the oems anyway. The printed ones were definitely a smidge quieter but oddly enough made more noise that my Logitech G930 headphones seemed to pick up.

Can you comment on how well the dampers worked for you? What are your before / after observations?

There is a big difference in the noise level. While the printer is printing, the fans are now louder than the steppers. As for print quality, I don't notice a difference.
