This little penguin is made of a dodecahedron with a pyramid added to one face for a head; a cuboctahedron stretched along one axis for his body, and pentagonal prisms for feet. The polyhedra for this penguin were generated in (free for download) JavaGami software (http://l3d.cs.colorado.edu/~ctg/Projects.html).
I was able to get a successful print on a Replicator 2 of the entire penguin as a single job (penguin full.thing) -- be sure to use a raft and generate support, which will produce a column under the beak and between his feet. One of the photos shows the finished piece sitting in the MakerBot. For ease of printing, I have also included the separate parts.
For folks printing from the .stl files -- the head is scaled to 20 mm in Z; the body is 30 mm in Z; and the foot is 25 mm in Y.
The decorated penguin shown in the photo was printed in white ABS (on a Dimension SST), and then surface-primed with acetone and painted with acrylic. His eyes are black paper circles made with a hole punch.
