This set of three parts provides a mounting system for the 15W TTL enabled, focusable laser from AliExpress (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/High-Power-Diode-Laser-15W-15000mW-Focusable-Blue-Laser-Module-450-445nm-with-TTL-Driver-for/32757380573.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.03ASzf)

It includes a laser holder which is a remix of the X-Carve Laser Holder w/ Scope Mount & Safety Panels by AustinSaintAubin modified to accept the 40mm wide 15w laser. It also includes a mount plate to attach the laser controller behind the Z-axis motor and a plate for mounting the 12V 6A power supply to the X-Carve sideboard.

The power supply mount requires two M3 x 10mm cap head screws to mount the supply to the plate and two M5 x 16mm screws to mount the plate to the sideboard.

The controller mount uses the existing Z-stepper screws (they should have 3mm of available thread,) to mount to the carriage and two M3 screws to mount to the controller. I used an M3 nut on each screw between the plate and controller to act as a standoff since the controller gets hot. I also added a strip of aluminum foil tape to the top of the plate under the controller since I printed in PLA. Between the standoff and the reflective tape, I haven't had heat problems yet. Print in ABS for better heat resistance.

Tim, how's the cutting performance on this? Did they send you any specifications on the diode?

I don't assume that diode lasers are:
A) primarily useful for cutting (as opposed to burning)
B) expected to run well at their rated output

I usually run the 15W at 50% or less, essentially operating it as a really good 5W laser. This allows me longer operating times.

I cut almost exclusively leather, which works well up to about 4oz. I have successfully burned/engraved on steel tools (using a black marker) and many other materials. Cutting paper and other thin stuff is trivial, I'd buy a CO2 laser if I really wanted to cut wood.

It likly will pulse @ 15w on start... but that is not good for the laser diode. It will not last long.
