what concrete did you use and how did you get the concrete off the mold

Can flower pots like this one be printed in PLA ?

Yes, in the third image you can see the result of my PLA printing.

I tried to make this from fine self leveling concrete, but the mould was nearly impossible to remove, even to brake off.

I would imagine if you just used the print as is, it would be extremely textured and thusly bonding with the concrete. You'd have to sand the mold or use some sort of grease agent coated on the mold to prevent the mold from sticking to the concrete...like using cooking spray in a muffin mold.

Andres, thank you very much for the design, it looks so good! I have printed mold 1 and the walls, but am having trouble with the process with plaster - I haven't ever cast anything before. How do you prevent the plaster/concrete leaking out between the interface between the bottom of the mould walls and the mould? Do you have to seal it with something?

Hi, you can use a hot glue gun to close the gap between the walls and the mold :)

Romper el molde or Aceitar?

Might sound dumb, but... which mold file is the one in the first image? >.>

Mold one is for flower pot, mold 2 is for flower pot 2 and mold 3 is for flower pot 3. ;)

Why does the molds require support? Printing on the flat side, it seems there will not be any overhangs.

They don't need them, the supports were for an older version of the molds. As you commented you can print them on the flat side without supports

2 Questions for the mold:

  1. Do you apply anything to the mold to help it release once concrete is dry? (or do you have to break it)

  2. What type of concrete? I was going to use regular Portland and maybe mix some find sand into it.

1.- You can apply baby oil to the mold, otherwise you will have to brake the mold.

2.- You can use any kind of concrete it doesn´t matter.

Loving those cement (?) ones!

weight of print pls ?

with an ifill of 5% it was like 50 or 40 grams i don't remember well

missing holes for surplus water, your plants can rot :(

  • Nice design !

Muchas gracias

Reminds me of a game called Monument Valley.

Oh man, I've been wanting to try a concrete project for a while now. This is pushing me over the tipping point for sure. Fantastic design, and thanks for uploading the moulds, too. Will post when made!

Looks great! any specific reason why the stairs are not of equal lengths?

Nop, there wasn´t any specific reason

did anyone try this molds? none of them? i am printing its 1/2 scale

by the way shapes are great

Gracias a vos! Saludos ;)

Very cool, I will try the moulds soon! I've planned to do some things like this for awhile now!

Hey - this is a beautiful model. Did you create concrete forms? If so - do you have any tips for the type of mold that would be most effective?

Hi, i haven´t done a concrete model but i´m planning to do one. I will upload the molds later. I recommend you to use ninjaflex filament for printing the molds.

Did you ever try PLA for the molds? I only got an classic Ultimaker that pushes the filament so i can't use ninjaflex (as far as i know)

I imagine with a traditional silicone mold you could have it be a simpler 1 piece, open topped mold that you pull the product straight out.

You could try printing the positive, and going down to your local casting store, and getting some silicone casting stuff.

No, i haven´t. If i'm not wrong it should work in PLA but you will have to break the mold to take out the flower pot

Nice job. If integrated with a hidden space to store extra water, it will be even better.

Thanks. It´s a good idea, i'll try to edit it and upload it.

and the others in the pic?
