I dont get it.
won't the rings on the inside of the upper rotator stop the gear box from going in?
and also it says the bullet-things are meant to go into the holes in the description. but what holes?

The rings are support material. The holes are in the top part, you’ll get it once you see it. The bullets are smaller than they look

I am trying to make the whole robot but I don't know if you use a 3 module gear box for the base or a 4 module.
Please could you tell me asap since its my nephew's birthday soon.

Hi thank you for the great work. But I don't get to assemble it. If I put the gearbox in the system can't do anything. Could you upload an assembling picture or a cut through the assembled robot foot? Thank you.

A full assembly video is in the works, but could you help me better understand where people are having trouble?

Did you do a wear in period with the bearbox uninstalled? That seems to make the biggest difference in fitment for me.

Hi most of this I understand some I don't, I have printed so many gear boxes that I need help
1 from which gearbox do I use the ring gears from which gear ratio gearbox?
2 which 1 piece sun gear I have some with 3 rows of teeth and some that have only 2 the middle one is blank and from what ratio box?
3 the 3 module long planet gears are they from which ratio gear box?
I'm sorry that I keep asking you so many questions but I have so many gear parts I have mixed them up.

For this joint, you only need Ring Gears #1 & #2 Use the one piece sun gear, and make sure you print out the 3 module long planet gears, not the 4.
The 3rd module of the gearbox will go seemingly unused inside the top cover but it will actually be supporting top end of the planet gears. Though there IS room for the #3 ring gear to be installed, it would not support much of anything and only cause additional drag, backlash, and make the gearbox impossible to disassemble.

1.) I don't know if I fully understand the question, but don't mix and match parts between the two gearboxes, they have the same form factor but the gear teeth themselves are incompatible.

2.) The only sun gear that I can see that has more then 2 gears on it is one that was designed for a different application, don't use it. You can pick whichever gearbox that you think will best suit your application, the 43.3:1 has less backlash, but the 66:1 can handle a lot more torque.

3.) Both gearboxes have the 3 module long planet gears, i should label them better. Just make sure you don't mix and match gears from different gearboxes.

What I mean about not mixing parts is, for example you want to use the 66:1 in the first joint, just make sure you only use parts from the 66:1 in that joint, if you want to use the 43.3:1 in the next joint, thats fine but make sure you only use the ring gears and planet gears for the 43.3:1 in that joint

Thanks for the response I think I understand the sun gear doesn't need a gear in position #2 ring gear right? I was trying to come up with a gear that would fill that void.

yeah it doesn't need one there, in a bigger gearbox I would of put one there but interlocking sun gear #1 and #3 proved to be much much more important than having a Sun gear #2.

I did lots of updating on parts names to avoid future confusions

I'm finding the threads aren't very deep which is causing the locknut to not screw onto the base, I've done the base at .32 and done two locknuts so far one at 0.32 and one at 0.2 layer heights. Reprinting the base at 0.2 in the hope that'll help. I'll post my results later after that print.

the EE holder piece? yes, that part needs supports. It needs to be printed with the rings horizontally also, I've been meaning to find a fix for that

how do u put this together

Put the stepper motor in. Align the d shaft on the stepper and put the gearbox in. Put the bb's in. Put the top part on, put more bbs in. Put the locknut on.

What diameter are the BB?

4.5mm. I think I made the roller channel good for up to 5mm and could work with larger BB's anyways they'll just roll on the sides of the channels, there's plenty of threads on the locknut to use larger bearings.
