Water effect is created by

  1. Painting water area of tile a dark blue
  2. Covering with a layer of mod podge to smooth out the surface
  3. Painting on the wall side, layers of blue increasingly light as they get close to the wall
  4. Dry brushing mostly near the wall, but a little elsewhere with a very light blue
  5. Two layers of mod podge to give the water/glossy effect

Yesterday I saw an additional pool with these but today I do not. What are the diagonal pool pieces for? Thanks!! I'm in the process of making this and will post pics when we are done...

The diagonal pieces are just for if one wants to have the pool have diagonal edges to the stonework. The half doesn't line up with itself, so you need a three quarters diagonal piece to go between any two half diagonal pieces.

Print them out and they will make more sense.

Not sure I understand about the additional pool comment

Thanks for the quick response...I have printed out enough to make the big pool and it's looking good so far...I had seen an additional pool using the diagonals but I don't see that picture anymore. Was using it to make it lol

Hrm, I havn't made any changes for years on this. Any chance it was on one of the makes?

Excellent set. Makes a great supplement to my DF tiles. Thanks for sharing!

It's just lots of layers of paint, lightening the color each layer - maybe 6-7 layers in total

That paint job is great. Wish I could add depth like that.
