I thought carefully, I think it's a wonderful idea.

I really like this concept and the fact it utilizes and help recycle the rolls, however the cost of the filament to make vs a store bought storage bin makes this impractical. Well done just the same.

So for a $20 1kg roll of filament you can print 24 trays (average of 40gr each) which is enough for 3 spools and have a bit of filament left over. In my area I can't find a small parts organizer with 100+ storage trays for that price.

Still, even with the economic aspect aside, I'm sure there are folks who enjoy making things rather than buying them. I mean, I don't know if printing a baby Groot is all that practical either it sure seems like there are lots being made ;)

LMAOO good point ,a baby groot is defiantly not on my print list also hahahaha , of course, the fact that it is fully customisable holds great value. the cheapest pla and abs 1 kg roll I can get my hands on, after shipping is around 30$CAD a roll, which is a hack of a lot cheaper then I used to pay back when I first started 3d printing. I hope you didn't take offence to my first comment was not meant in a negative way by any means.
