Hobbing Tool i made for using with a proxxon KT 70 micro compound table (or similar) and a drill press.


  1. print
  2. add bearings
  3. add hobbing tool to the compound table
  4. mark where you want to roughen the bolt
  5. add the bolt
  6. insert a thread tap into the drill press
  7. start the drill
  8. move the bolt to the thread tap by using the compound table

It is very easy to make a bolt using this tool. I used a M5 tap and cut (pushed the tap into the side of the bolt) 0.038". The process takes about 5 min per bolt.

Hmm has anyone have any final hobbed bolts? I'm curious to see photos.
