M5 Nut traps were a bit sloppy. 1 out of 4 failed under load. footbase has much better fit and no slip under heavy tightening.
Yet Another Corner Design for the MPCNC 1" edition
I used these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004TUEB4S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 SS tubes for my rails. I had 2 issues with the design.
1) I wanted to build it so I could change the work height to the job and still have a larger z for printing. The fit of the tubes to the legs was very tight and made it difficult to adjust the height easily.
2) I could not get a repeatable cross corner measurement which made it hard to square up. No solid surface to grab with the tape measure.
I looked at the top piece and it would be difficult to add a tab and keep the print orientation for no support printing.
I looked at the Totem stack. It had a couple issues. 1) no nut traps on the foot lock and 2) it changed the overall xy dimensions of the corner.
So I designed this thing:
All nuts have traps for easy tightening.
I used M5 and M3 socket head bolts (I had lots around from other projects), I like socket heads and despise phillips.
It has alignment tabs for checking that the base is perfectly square.
The Foot reuses the Base and has nut traps so I could bolt it to the table.
The foot is also shrunk down to the corner size (the original was slightly bigger) This allows the bolt holes to be set in another 1/8 of an inch or so from the edge of a minimal table size. Actually reduces min table size to rail length.
I have included the fusion 360 source. Most items are parameterized.
The included alignmenttop will work for equal length X and Y, if they are different you can change the top angle for cross corner measurements by setting the X and Y rail Length in the parameters and the angle will render at the correct angle. Just save the new part as stl.
You will need to print for 4 corners:
4 Spacer.stl (has 4 on the platter)

16 M5x100 Socket Head Bolts
16 M5x(Table Thickness+10mm)
32 M5 Lock Nuts
8 M3x20 Socket Head Bolts
8 M3 Lock Nuts
32 M5 Washers
I have marked this as a work in progress. All fits have been tested but I have not finished building the machine. Will update once built.
