This is a phone holder ashtray for the Porsche 914. It's designed to accepted phone mounts made for air vents. It's a straight drop in for the factory ash tray. Instead of trying to solve the problem of the mount, this ash tray is more of a mount for a mount. It emulates the fitting pattern found on many mounts designed for air vents. It should work with any mount you find that claims to work on air vents. On the underside, there is a indentation designed to hold and pass-through a braided USB cable.
The cable seen can be found on Amazon.
I recommend ABS for the print. I've tried PETG and HIPS, but it complicates post print processing. The model is best printed hole face side down. Supports shouldn't be needed.
Post Processing to achieve a Great Finish
After printing, the model was sanded down with 240 grit, 320 grit and finally 400 grit. Then it was primed with Rust-Oleum Black Sandable Primer. More sanding with 400 grit sandpaper until all surface defects have been removed. Another layer of primer, then a final sand at 600 grit. Then a coat of SEM Trim Black paint is applied. Sand away any defects with 600 grit. Apply a final coat of the SEM paint.
