Summary

Now that I have a dual extruder Ultimaker, I revisited my first model uploaded on Thingiverse.

Instructions

I have no idea how people print dual extrusion with other software. But use the _a and _b stl file as you normally would.

I'm working on the software for the Ultimaker, as you can see on the photo, there is a "minor" oozing issue to solve. The print also de-attached it self from the bed before it was finished, and the 2nd color didn't come out at the start.

I printed it to see if my heads where on the same level, which they are. So I'm very happy about this print.

Awesome work! I can't wait to get dual extrusion for my own Ultimaker one day. I'm guessing Cura will support it, since you created Cura?

Basic dual extrusion support was added in Cura quite a while ago. This was actually my first test with it. The software support has improved a bit, and the 12.12 release will improve it a bit more. But it's still difficult as even the V2 hotend (this was done with the V1) still oozes quite a bit.

FYI: To slice using Axon, the BFB software, a combined .STL is required. All three files, (first colour.STL, second colour.STL and combined.STL) have to be loaded.

That's odd, I can understand why software would want a combined file, for things like support. But I do not understand why it cannot generate it itself. Anyhow, it should be easy to make the combined from the SCAD script.
