hey,
can i get full scale model file ? thanks

Hi,
thank you for sharing this model. Can you please provide blueprint with dimension of the blade and list of electronics parts ?
I plan to make this sword for my son to birth day, unfortunately I´m newbie in that :)

For the blade, I used this sheet:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XGNT6YV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I just eyeballed the dimensions. Be warned that you will need a power tool to cut it since it's so thick.

As far as the electronics, it's just normal lightsaber parts. There is a lot of good instructions here: https://www.reddit.com/r/lightsabers/
but primarily you just need an LED, switch, and battery. You can buy these pre-wired if you want and even with sound. Example: https://www.etsy.com/listing/268467427/electronics-for-lightsaber-by-outer-rim?ref=shop_home_feat_1

asking a couple follow up questions:

  • The pieces should snap together? I ask because mine didn't, but it could be the settings on the printer I used.
  • How do we remove the cover to replace the batteries? Is that related to the snapping part?
  • Cutting the blade, what tool do you recommend? Have a circular saw but figured I'd ask before hacking into a sheet.
  • How is the blade secured to the hilt? I didn't see a pilot screw hole so I though asking would be best.

Appreciate any more information that can be shared. I'm making this to show my art kids at school that art isn't all pencils and paints.

  • It's not a snap, they just slide together snugly. You can drill in set screws if you'd like. Or just glue it all up.
  • I'm not sure I understand this question
  • I circular saw would be pretty aggressive and inaccurate for this. I'd say a scroll saw is best, but you could use a table saw as well
  • I didn't mean for this to be a dueling saber so I didn't model in a set screw. The blade just slides in and out for display.

If you're interested, I've done an update to this model, but haven't posted it yet. It changes some dimensions to accommodate MHSv1 parts. There are also four small holes throughout the piece which allow alignment with 4-40 threaded rod.

Hey, thanks for getting back to me! Sorry, I'm a member of the Rebel Legion and 501st Legion. I do want this for display, the Mercs will be so jealous, but I also want to be able to light it up and walk around posing for pictures. No plan for dueling wither.
Also, I'm an art teacher, who hasn't had the time to REALLY learn Fusion360 yet, and my students are eagerly awaiting a darksaber, at least the hilt. Hence, I didn't take it in there and modify it.

I'm mostly thinking ahead on what I'd need to do to light the blade, secure the blade to the hilt for carrying, and being able to change/charge the batteries in the handle.

The screw hols would be easy to install to secure the blade, like with most lightsabers. Good idea for the blade. I wanted to check before thinking about drilling.

Sounds like the newer version has the screws on the pommel allowing access to the battery/batteries.Yeah, that would be awesome. I can even print it in my classroom and captivate the kids. As soon as I get it printed I'll upload pics. I try to contribute to the "makes" section. I know they help me a lot.

Thank you for linx ... now i have to study and then order :D

Any luck in getting this built? Let me know if you need any more advice.
