most parts will be remade, with more detail, and better assembly

Hi all,

After spending hours tweaking and making Garin's Imperial knight and Mattking's additional parts, I decided to publish all my parts, in a new package.
It is scaled for 28mm gaming.

I tweaked proportions, added some parts, modified some details.

see my make here : https://www.thingiverse.com/make:353013
Base here : https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2400319

parts are not oriented for printing, just choose the best for your printer.

Hope you will enjoy it !

Parts to be printed :

  • Gun arm :
    IK_gun_back1 and 2
    IK_gun_jack (x2)

  • Power glove :

  • Upper Body :
    IK_sidebody_L (+ mirror R)
Alternate version split for easier printing https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:493363
    IK_upperarm_L (+ mirror R)
    IK_exhaust1 (+ mirror)
    IK_exhaust2 (+ mirror)
    IK_insigna + support

  • Lower Body :
    IK_upper_hips_L (+ mirror R)
    IK_Hips (x2)
    IK_lower_hips_L (+ mirror R)
IK_groin (once printed, heat and bend slightly this part along the middle groove)

  • Legs :
    IK_foot (x2)
    IK_lower_leg_L (+ mirror R)
    IK_upperleg_L_1 + IK_upperleg_L_2 (+ mirrors R)
    IK_uplegarmor (x2)
    IK_knee (x2)
    IK_shinguards (x2)
IK_leg_jack (x8) to be cut or resized depending on the pose

    • Top armour :
      IK_top_armour_L (+ mirror R)
      IK_pauldron (x2 or mirror)
      IK_handle (x4)
      IK_disc (x2)

I also publish the complete assembly in meshmixer format.

Copyright infringement is not intended. All parts are created freehand in 3d modeling software, no copyrighted product had been scanned or copied in any way.

weapon and right arm assembly

hand and left arm assembly, i added some metal wires

top armour assembly, i forgot to mirror the pauldron

inside of the armour. I used Epoxy to glue the pauldrons on the side of the top armour

body assembly : as surfaces dont really fit together, i used some modellable epoxy paste.

front view of body

Legs back view. It is necessary to cut the actuators around the ankle at the desired length, depending on the pose. I added some wire between waist and upper legs.

legs front view. Glue the armours with epoxy paste. Gluing the lower legs on the feet required a BIG drop of glue.

Just wanted to know if you can move the body and arms? (amazing model though , going to print it)

There are no real articulation on this model.
There is a new version I'm working on which has much more detail, looks really closer to the real knight and has articulated arms, hips, head, knee...
For the moment only the torso is complete but it will be done soon.

Updated Imperial Knight proxy (WIP)

thanks Seb, if I change something or remodel something I will land it to you

How tall is this? (amazing work btw)

Approx 15cm. Depending on how you pose the legs and if you add accessories on the roof

Where can I find the instructions on how to build this? I need this in my life! lol

Look carefully at the pictures. Get some good glue. And a good dose of patience ^^
That's all
Good luck !

of course you have to upload this after I finish printing garin's model at 150% scale

gonna give this a shot too. thanks for the tweaks she looks great!

Sorry for that ;-)

What a great model. Having a blast assembling this guy. Few things I'll mention.

1) The file is missing the shoulder top mounts, which can be found: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:493363/#files

2) The IK Back piece probably needs resizing. I'd guess maybe 10 to 20% bigger, but it may just need to be longer. I'm still playing with this piece to get it to fit well.

3) If you're using Cura as your slicer, use the 'lay flat' feature as much as possible. It'll save you some serious headaches.

Imperial Knight - accessories

For the shoulders I added a link in the description.
You are right about the back piece. I had to glue some plastic sheet to fill the hole with the top armour (2-3mm missing but slightly rounded)
Of course using Lay Flat fonction really helps (I use Cura too). I dont know if Meshmixer has a similar function? I could repost the parts with correct orientation.

Thanks for your comment
Good luck with the assembly

Looks like the winner is 12 to 12.5% depending on what filament you're using and the level of shrinkage. 12.25% was pretty much perfect for me.

Impressive design and print. Looks great.

Thanks ! I love it too ^^
The design is from Garin, and some nice additional parts from Mattking.
I just made some adjustments to make it nicer

Any chance you could provide an STL of the combined model? This would be a great test for my SLA printer. I checked the Meshmixer file, but it seems to be missing parts.

The meshmixer file was for assembly reference, and for those who want to add/modify some parts.
I thing exporting it to a STL as is would result in many gaps and holes, and some parts would not print correctly...
any ways the meshmixer file is complete, just check the visibility of the different parts in the objects browser. (I also saw that there still is an original shin guard on the right leg, to be deleted).
I posted the assembly in STL if you want to give it a try

good luck

Outstanding, Thanks. I'll let you know how I do!

Can't wait to see your make :D
