These are excellent... SO useful when you need to mark a ship's position to place a bomb or get a maneuver template in a tight spot.

I'm confused by what this is supposed to do... Do you just place it there so that you see where it moved from? If so, wouldn't it just slide around easily when you move the base?

It is used for marking base position when you remove a ship from its position, e.g. when you want to place a maneuver template over it to see whether a maneuver clears the ship.

Do you print it in a special material to make sure it slides less?

I haven't tried, you could try one of the rubbery materials. Or a metalfill to give it more weight. But the way to go is probably keeping a finger on the tab on the holder while the other player places the template.
