So I finally got around to installing this model to my cr-10 and tested it. What I found was that PETG works the best. If you plan on going to temperatures of 270-300 degrees, then I recommend adding a small strip of Aluminum Foil Tape ( http://a.co/if9dAdt ) to reflect some of the heat near the heater block, seen in the above picture.

The fan used on the fang is a bit more powerful then stock and is nice upgrade and helps with the quality of the print. I used the stock 40mm fan to cool the E3d V6.

I only have about 12 hours of print time with the E3d V6 so far but, I can say quality has gone up on the models that I have printed.

I combine the radial fan fang from jneilliii and the short E3D V6 40mm fan mount by lethala.
I also cut down the fang's tips by 5mm. I am using this for a Creality CR-10 but can be used with certain other printers as well.

Note: I have printed this and tested if the components fit and checked the clearance of the nozzle, however, I have not tested this model on an actual printer. (still waiting for my cr-10 in the mail)

which exact fan are you using? is it louder or quiter than then stock fan?

Could you please share the model or can you make a fan holders more fat (5mm each), cause this holders brakes quickly (very fragile)

I would suggest a modification to your design: rotating the 40mm fan mount 180°, so the fan sits higher and gives more clearance to the heating block. Probably this would also save you insulating the lower part with alumn foil from the heat.

How is the 5015 blower connected - is it wired in parallel with the 40mm heat block fan, thus running permanently? Or is there a special connector on the CR-10 board, which is able to turn on/off the 5015 blower fan while printing?

Is the fang duct not touching the parts surface during print? because I had a similar attachment for the stock hotend and it was touching the surface. I had to cut a few mm so it will not touch the parts.

I am using this on my printer and everything works great. The fang does not touch the surface.

This is awesome, but I am going to have to hold out for an EZABL remix of this. Are you or anyone else willing to do the handiwork? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Is there any chance you can make a version of this for the e3d volcano? The nozzle tip is 8.5 mm lower than the standard V6.

How does this mount? What X-Carriage is recommended? For a Hictop (i3 Prusa).

I'm not sure a mount has been created for this model for that particular printer. This one is mostly used for the Creality series. A mount can be created for the Hictop but I don't see any as of right now that will work.

Just an FYI, I printed mine in PLA. When I started printing ABS in an enclosure, it melted and fell off. (Of course, I should have known PLA in enclosure, DUH--I'm really new at this lol)

But it's the perfect fan mount for me--I was in the middle of printing an ABS version anyway and now it's solid. A SilentX 40mm fan is so much quieter than the stock E3D fan. :)


I'm glad to see that you like the design. Thank you for the heads up about PLA I was just going to test mine with PLA.

Anyway you could add a bl touch mount like some of the other fangs have? for example the one in this?

I'll look into it. It might be a few days I am in the process of upgrading my desktop hardware. Which my Fusion 360 is installed on.

Any chance you could remix with the standard tarantula 30mm fan also? I've got the tevo volcano ready to go, but only the stock fan lol

Unfortunately, I don't have the right parts to do an accurate design and test. I wouldn't want to give you a design that may not work.

No worries :) I did find a 40mm to 30mm fan adapter that I can print, so tomorrow I'll try to remix and see if I can incorporate the 30mm fan, so I won't need the adapter lol. I'm super anxious to get this e3d running!

Is there the other part in the files ? The bit that fits onto the printer carriage ?
