This is a bikini designed to be printed in flexible filament. The straps come in many lengths, and two cup sizes are provided. Properly sized and finished it is quite comfortable- I've worn it for six hours without discomfort or marks.

This is printed with the Flexion Extruder- it is quite difficult to print without an extruder specifically designed for flexible plastics.

3D printing is useful for so many things, but really, it's so much easier, cheaper and more effective to get silicone sheets and cut them to shape. This has little to do with showcasing the potential of 3D printing, and more to do with ego I think ;)

Nice work, I find 3D print for fashion fascinating. :)

Not tried tinkercad, need to take a look. I've mostly used 123D which works, but the UI is occasionally difficult to use.

Well done - I don't know how I missed this!

Very nice, I would marry you and bring you to the UK in a heart beat lol, love the show...

Maybe a silly question, but why didn't you used your own body scan instead of rubber ruler?
it allow you to perfectly fits your body no?

3D body-scan (structured light)

Ok, saw it.
I can get the point for the feeling, but I still think it will allow you more complex/creative design than a part of a sphere. maybe mixing the 2 methods will give the ultimate one , lol

Anyway, good proof of concept!

Not bad.... not bad at all ... (not only talking about the design)

now that's just science !

is there some trick to post work / removing supports on flexible material? I've used flush cutters and very sharp knives but with limited success.

Also you didn't mention which type of (RTV?) silicone you used for coating. have you heard of dragon skin (from smooth-on)?

Supports just pulled off for me. Don't know the type of silicone, our brands are different and it would be costly to import.

Aaaahhh !!! A 3D impression as I like them ;o)
Thank you Naomi for your joy of life

Aaaahhh !!! Une impression 3D comme je les aime ;o)
Merci Naomi pour votre joie de vivre.

I was wondering if you have wore it out on the beach in the sun, How did the cups material react? Even with the silicon did the cup portion cause an excessive warm sensation, or cause excessive sweating/ irritation of your skin?

I wore it for six hours without issue, but so far no pool parties or beach trips to try it out more thoroughly...

Thanks for the tutor video. Kept at a really professional level.

Where did you find that flexible ruler? This is a great idea for analog (non-linear) and hard to measure items/shapes.

I think I'm really good with Solid Works if you'd like help with some complex designs in future projects. Look at "my things" to judge my skill set. You do some interesting items that no others are trying and I like breaking the "easy" barrier. People don't realize how much work goes into items that are not simple linear models. Keep up the good work. :)

Hi Naomi,
Have you seen my comment on YouTube about using the prints as a guide to make leather cups?

сварганить российский флаг себе на грудь - Вот поступок настоящего патриота!.
Девочка, не тушуйся, мы всегда рядом ;)

haha true the Russian flag also:-)

ну, так, генетическую память стереть не так просто как данные на жестком диске ^.^

Okay now this gives me ideas for 3D printed mid-evil boobie armor. After I finish my other projects... and find out if my girlfriend will let me anywhere near her breasts with a flexible ruler.

I think you can also use PVA ....:D

pva & a quick swim test hes's thinking

LOL so wrong:-)

This goes without saying but wow that's sexy

Thats a really cool design

Using Tinkercad looked very time consuming for you though, Have you looked at Fusion 360...could do curves like those in not time.

Anyway love the idea ✌

I love how the people talking about how fast and easy other CAD programs are never have the time to post any designs of their own;-)

I started with Tinkercad over a year ago and recently tried Fusion 360. I like the detail Fusion has to offer but I still find myself going back to Tinkercad. I also started using Sketchup for a CNC design I am working on and I actually really like it. Thanks for sharing.

me too ;)

Very difficult goal but hey... thumb up ! amazing skill!

Didn't know that 3D prints could look so sexy. I follow you on YouTube.

Beautiful, sexy and most important smart!

Cheers from Chile

Glad you like it :-)
