This is the second generator of Plastic reef series .

You can create random octopus in two styles: 'organic' and 'mechanic' and populate your room with this weird creatures :)

Every Customization generates 5 sightly random octopus. You just need to set the style (organic or mechanic) and let the customizer works.

I've used some code from Torleif's openscad website: https://openscadsnippetpad.blogspot.com.es/2017/05/1-dimensional-noise.html

The stunning cover picture (ant the second one) are made by Tom Jackson (@FilamentFrenzy) using Vertigo Galaxy PLA from Fillamentum. Thanks for sharing Tom

Hope you enjoy it!
Have fun!

While trying the customizer of this today it put the following error out: /usr/local/bin/openscad/openscad: error while loading shared libraries: libCGAL.so.10: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Just that you know ;)

Additionally after attempting to generate an octopus this came out: #<RuntimeError: Failed to get https://www.thingiverse.com/download:3962992 403: Forbidden>

I noticed people reporting Customizzer issues with many designs. You may download OpenScad in your PC and run the file. Good luck :)

I don't mean to sound stupid, but how is this random? It looks like it's procedurally generated based on five shapes, two heads, and two tentacle types. So, that's 522 types, or 20 discrete possibilities, and there is no mechanism for randomly checking which one.

The randomness lies in the ondulation of tentacles. Using some sort of Perlin noise function.

Also the heads are sightly differents every generation (in the 'mechanic' version).

From Customizer you can't control the randomnes just generate a bunch and print the one you like more.

The code is so clever :o superb

Ooh! they are absolutely gorgeous!

And thanks again for the noise functions of your openscad website, i've used for the ondulation of tentacles
