Summary

so. this is my first attempt at making a 3d object in any program. figured i would try sketchup as its seems widely regarded as the easiest to use.
i wanted to have something to print when my printer arrives this week that i had designed myself, not sure why. but as i don't have the printer yet i cant do a test print, if anyone wants to take a gamble please let me know the results.
seeing as im a special effects student at UAL i run a tumblr where ill be posting everything i print and design, along with everything i make in general

UPDATE - its been a long time, but i edited this to a point where i could print it a while back, the reason its been un-updated for such a long time is that i tried printing it and the design i have uses such small tolerances in the hinges that it renders it unprintable. good luck to everyone though.
i have my last day of my auto cad course this weekend, so look forward to lots more models in the future :)

Instructions

tried to print it, did not work, could just be my printer but it seems the gaps for the hinges are far too small. maybe your printer will work better or if you have access to something other than a FDM machine, good luck

There needs modification before it's useful unfortunately.
The design overall is good, however there are a few major problems:

Tolerances (as mentioned) are not good.
Games do not stay in their slots, they will fall out with ease.
3 of 6 game cartridges must be put in face down due to the orientation of the design.

printed this last night. worked really well. I would recommend a brim with this to avoid corner warping

has any one tried 123d conversion that may help

I can't get the STL file to work. I've even tried repairing it with netfab and I can't quite get it to work. I'd like to try to print it as it looks like a great design. Anyone else have success?

the new stl works fine in slic3r for me. the last one had a litany of errors including the fact that it was oriented along one of the thin edges. i haven't had any luck printing this but i hope you have better luck
