In Argentina we use E27. Is enough room to use this with this lamp?
It's wonderful!!!

Hi Igor, I’ve made one! Super! But my gu10 led bulbs are a bit wider near the bulb. Could you design a bit wider or tapered holder? Then I can use the much more desirable gu10 led bulb rather the the oldschool halogen one

So possibly a dumb question, but how are people mounting the GU10 socket to the lamp holder? Is everyone just gluing it?

Hi there! It isn’t necessary to glue the socket.
The lamp fits one side of the holder, and the socket is connected on the other side (as show in the picture).
I hope it helps.

I see, the neck of my bulbs are narrower, so it doesn't press fit into the lamp holder. I will figure something out, thanks for the info!

The wall mount in the pictures looks different that what was in the downloaded files.

Hi there! The one in the pictures was specifically designed for mounting between a pair of wooden panels in my room, without the need of screws. This is too specific (most of the people won’t have the same setup). So I designed another model later (the one available on the files) which uses a pair os screws for wall mounting.
I’lol add a clamp version soon (you can already find some remixes with that). :)

What thread have you used ? I printed it at 20% infill and the thread sheared off. I will re-use the knobs and reprint some bolts.

hey there :) is there any way we can get an arm that has 1 end flat ( like normal) and the other end twisted 90 degrees? or have an arm that articulates to up/down/left/right sortof like the wall mount section?

What do you think it would be better?

  • an arm with its ends twisted by 90 degrees
  • or a small link with this 90 degrees twist (for the connection of a larger arm on each end)

Hi igorF2 mate fantastic work, I was looking at the Articulating, Wall-Mounted, Magnetic Phone Mount ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2448971/#comments ) I thought about your design for the phone as well and it seems your design on the mounting base is much better, instead of bolted to the wall. Do you think is possible if you can design this somehow to mount a phone, or share Fusion 360 file I would like to modify it for the phone.

This looks like a fantastic project and it could even be a lot better if you would change the licence to one that is compatible with Open Hardware. Unfortunately, non-commercial licences do NOT WORK in a hardware context to open up a project (see http://www.ladyada.net/library/openhardware/license.html and https://www.oshwa.org/sharing-best-practices/). It would be fantastic to see you reconsider! thumbs up

I'm working on some improvements (cable holders, longer/shorter arms, etc.). Please let me know if you have suggestions or if there are things you think I should fix on the design. And take care when working with electricity, ok?

They are not up yet but will get a pic up when complete. I m not sure is cable management is required as you can just cable tie onto the arms.

On my first one i did print 2 extra arms to extend it then realised that it will probably be too long.

I think a box that can be clipped onto the arms to put the terminal block would good so there is no live points exposed.

I've just added some modifications: three sizes for each arm (100, 140 and 200 mm).
Also added a new type (with a stud and one end and a hole at the other). This way you can extend your lamp's arm length with only one additional part.

Regarding the problem you're having with the lenght, I'm designing longer and shorter arms. The current one has 140 mm, and I'll add 200mm and 80mm ones. I'll also add a new kind of arm with a hole on one side and a stud on the other.

It will depend on your printer and the resolution used. I printed it in 0.2mm resolution and it took me around 8 hours to print the hole lamp (all the 10 parts).

What is the lamp bulb you used for this? I'd like to stay true to the project. Thanks, Dave

I used a 5W LED spotlight with a GU10 socket, similart to those ones:

I'm not sure about the exact manufacturer/model of the one I used. You can find it in hardware stores.

Please be carefull when working with electricity. It might be dangerous. Some of those connectors and LED bulbs might have exposed metal parts! Don't touch it's energized and keep it out of reach from children or pets. Make sure that everything is perfectly isolated beforing turning it on.
If you have no experience working with electricity, ask for help of any one with experience, or use lower voltages (e.g. 5V LEDs).

i dont know my printer is like 220mm by 220mm

would it work if scaled up say to 200%

It would possibly be printable, but the connection to external components (bolts for attaching it to the wall, lamp and its connector) won't work anymore.
Your intention is to create longer arms for the lamp?

I see you posted the link for the LED however I am only seeing the light bulb. Is there a socket with a cord that you used?

I thought the same: most of the people won't have the same structure I have (a wood panel with a gap) for attaching the lamp to the wall.
So the wall mount part stl file I uploaded is quite different from the one of the pictures. It's simple, and it can be attached to the wall by using two ordinary screws. You can see it in 9th picture.

But I liked your idea: designing different supports for other surfaces. A base for installing it on a desk for instance.
One more thing for the to do list! :D

Yeah, clamp mount for a table edge would be a good addition to this project.
