Summary

This is a modified version of the stock Makergear M2 spool holder. I really like the stock spool holder because its strong and holds the spool in place well. The only problem is that it is really short. So I made two versions. One that is long enough for narrow spools and one a bit longer for the thick squat spools. I did my best to maintain the overall geometry of the holder so it isn't just a stretched version of the spool holder but one where the center section was lengthened.

They should print fine in either ABS or PLA. No supports needed.

The further extended spool does not have the correct hole pattern. It seems to be mirrored from what is should be. The extended spool holder worked just fine.

I'm glad you said something. The Further Extended holder base is mirrored. I re-mirrored it in Cura before I printed and it came out as it should have.

That is interesting because what is in the photo is the "further extended spool holder". I didn't have to modify this to fit my M2. I did notice that the relative orientation of the holes to the base was mirrored but being that the holes are symmetrically placed relative to the post, mirroring would only result in shifting of the points of the base. So it would likely result in an aesthetic, rather than functional change. But I will look into this further to see if the mirroring resulted in a distortion. I don't recall having any problems getting the pictured holder installed but thank you for pointing this out and I'll look into it. I can easily repost a new version.
