Any idea how much filament is used to create this?

what is your next giant lego project

Getting inspired. My first "Technic" style lego was the Go-Kart set 854 ... Parts from your design can probably be used to create this model as well.. ;-)

Thanks for these files! I've had a lot of fun printing them at 400% for my 3-year-old, but my 1-year-old is loving them too :o Early Technic is good Technic :)

I'm going to tweak these though, since there are a few things I've noticed:

  • Brick studs don't fit snugly into Technic brick side holes.
  • The little nubs below Technic brick side holes are attached to the bricks' walls, so they can't mate to the holes inside Technic brick studs.
  • Bushings (3713) don't fit snugly between plate studs.
  • Gears and bushings don't fit snugly onto shafts.

I imagine these were not considered priorities for these models, since bricks, gears, and pins DO mate nicely. I'll post whatever I come up with.

Still looking forward to your 951 :)

Hi,

I look forward to seeing your build!

I have already made some of these tweaks, but I've not updated the files on this kit. maybe on the next one!

The gears and axles fit vary depending on the print settings, so I corrected all these then found they didn't fit again when I tweaked settings, also the scale will have some effect on them, as you are scaling the tolerances that I tuned for 500%, and hence you will get some error in the fit.

"The little nubs below Technic brick side holes are attached to the bricks' walls, so they can't mate to the holes inside Technic brick studs."

I've corrected the SCad files so this is no longer the case.

"Bushings (3713) don't fit snugly between plate studs."

Corrected in my newer version, along with 3651

Also updated the 3749 and 3673 for better fit on my latest model.

matt.

Thanks for the reply, Matt!

Now I wonder if I want to tweak these! I'll print the latest and see how they go.

FWIW I've been printing bricks and hardware (gray parts) in PLA, with black PETG for the shafts. I'm using a Prusa MK3 which has surprisingly good dimensional accuracy.

I'll Instagram photos of my girls with the bricks one of these days, they're really enjoying them!

My first technic set! This will definitely be a post xmas project for me. I might have to downscale slightly though.
