This is a very bright LED!
I run this 12V LED with only 9V, so that the heat is not so high and the consumption remains acceptable.
The cooling fins get warm in about 55 degrees Celsius / 131F and I do not need a fan and the plastic (PETG) does not soften (measured in 22 degrees Celsius space).
You need the following parts:
- 10W LED (10 pieces 2 €)
- heat sink (1 €)
- Voltage Regulator (5 pieces 1,50 €)
- LiPo Charger (10 pieces 1,50 €)
- Battery 18650 (5 €)
- Protection Sircuit (5 pieces 1 €)
- Switch (10 pieces 1,50 €)
So all together, it does not cost much and you have lots of parts left for future projects ;)
I glued an aluminum bracket with 20x30x20mm between the LED and the heat sink, so I have a bit more grip.
The switch is screwed with two 2mm screws, but you could also just glue it.
The lid on the back is simply glued on with superglue.
The consumption is 0,4A directly on the battery when the regulator is set to 9V. With a 3400mA battery you would have to get 8,5h runtime. The LED does NOT become darker because the Voltage Regulator always holds 9V. When the battery is dead, the LED will start blinking.
Charging takes a long time, but it is not a problem.
